The Stock Import tool provides the ability to import stock data (such as price information) from the clipboard or an external file into your STACK-IT Stock Database.

Open the Tools palette in the Stock screen and click the Import button to open the Stock Import tool.

Stock Import screen

There are two ways to import data:

1.Paste the data from the clipboard.
2.Open a CSV file containing the data.

STACK-IT uses the "Data Key" to locate the Stock part to update. Usually the part's ProdCode is used to locate the part, but alternatively the combination of "Size-Component-CatalogID" may be used to locate the parts. When more than one part matches the data key, all matching parts will be updated.

When importing price and cost values, zero dollars values are ignored and the existing values are retained. To specifically import zero dollar values, check the box "Import Zero Dollar Values".

APPLY_40x30

Click Apply to scan the stock parts for any part matching a record in the import data and update the values for the stock part. As each input record is processed, a line will be added to the Process Report list to show if the line was imported or skipped.

Browse_50x20

Click the Browse button to locate the import file. The name of the selected file is displayed to the left of the Browse button.

CLOSE_40x30

The Close button will return you to the Stock screen.

COPY_40x30

Click the Copy button to copy the process report to the clipboard for pasting into Excel or other tools.

LOAD CSV

After selecting a CSV file with the Browse button, click the Load CSV button the load the data contained in the CSV file. STACK-IT will examine the data, show the number of records and tokens found and list the tokens in the selector list.

PASTE_40x30

Click the Paste button to load data from the clipboard into the Stock Import screen. STACK-IT will examine the data, show the number of records and tokens found and list the tokens in the selector list.

TEMPLATE_50x15

Click the Template button to copy a list of all the possible data columns that may be contained in an import file. The data can be pasted into an empty Excel spreadsheet to make it easy to know what data can be supplied.
