While standard design principles call for pipes to enter a structure at a perpendicular angle, it is sometimes necessary to enter a structure at angles other than 90° to the wall of the structure. The maximum deflection angle determines if the pipe can physically be placed through the hole cutout. This is only a geometric check and does not indicate that a quality installation seal can be obtained.
The data needed to calculate the Maximum Deflection Angle are:
- Wall Thickness of the structure
- Outside Diameter of the pipe
- Diameter of the hole cutout (always larger than the pipe
OD.)
Enter the data into the calculator and click the "Calculate" button.
