Step 1 - Decide What Kind of Layout to Create

There are six different types of layout types to choose from. The most commonly used layout types are the Part Data and Structure Data layout types.

Part Data

Part Data layouts are used to show information on a part-by-part basis. This means that there is typically little or no structure summary, or specific information about the structure as a whole. This type of page is most popular for passing specifications to the shop regarding parts that have inverts. This page includes such items as Data Grids, Top View, Side View, and Flat Pattern drawings.

Structure Data

Structure Data layouts are used to show data and drawings for each structure as a whole. With items such as a Data Grid, Top View, Side View, Flat Pattern drawing, and Structure Summary.

Cover Page

This page type is used to create a cover page for the estimate. This layout typically includes such information as Job Notes and a Contact List.

Tally Page

This page type is used to create a summary tally of all the parts in the job. There are two tally styles, Job Tally and Bid Item Tally.

The Job Tally is used to create a tallied list of all parts in the job. It is printed using a Tally Page layout that includes the Job Tally page object.

The Bid Item Tally is used to create a summary of structures grouped by bid item. The summary data may include the parts tally for that bid item group as well as other summary information. Bid Item groups are printed using a Tally Page layout that includes the Bid Item Tally page object. Any existing Tally Page layout can be copied and the Job Tally page object can be replaced with a Bid Item Tally page object.

Part Status Grid

Typically this page will be mostly filled by a grid that lists each part, and the structure to which it belongs, down the left column and a list of the steps in the production process in the first row. This is often used as a production checklist to track which parts have been processed, and to what extent.

Structure Status Grid

Nearly identical to the Part Status Grid layout type, the Structure Status Grid employs the same grid design but lists only the structures of the job.
